DHS Class of 1967 Plans 50th Reunion

The Dunmore High School Class of 1967 will hold its 50th reunion celebration on Aug. 19 with a Mass at 4 p.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 208 Smith St, Dunmore, and reception from 5-10 p.m. at La Buona Vita in Dunmore.  On Aug. 18 there will be a guided tour of Dunmore High School at 6 p.m. with a social reception at Ragnacci’s at 7 p.m.

Lion’s Club Recognizes Student Excellence at Annual Banquet

 

lionsThe Dunmore Lions Club recently held its 36th annual Scholarship Award Banquet at La Buona Vita Restaurant, Dunmore.  

Honored with Penn State scholarships were Paul Marmo of Holy Cross High School and Ryan Chao of Dunmore High School.

Remarks were offered by Margo Balderson, Senior Guidance Counselor, at Dunmore High School and Kandy Taylor, Dean of Students, at Holy Cross High School.

Presentation of Awards was made by Lion President James Aita and Committee Chairman Lion Sal Marchese. Lion James Colangelo served as toastmaster and commented “These and past award recipients demonstrate the outstanding traits necessary to receive Lions awards. All recipients have shown exemplary leadership. They’re all amazing students.”

Local Holy Name Society’s Annual Communion Breakfast

S.S. Anthony and Rocco Parish Holy Name Society, Dunmore held its 59th annual Communion Breakfast on Sunday, Feb. 7, at La Buona Vita.

The day began with 8:30 a.m. Mass at St. Anthony of Padua Church celebrated by the Reverend David P. Cappelloni, pastor. Music was provided by the parish choir under the direction of Joseph Moffitt. Captain Christopher L. Paris, Commanding Officer, PA State Police, Troop R, Dunmore, was principal speaker. Toastmaster was Attorney Bruce Coyer. Lou Naro, Holy Name president, gave opening remarks.
