Dunmorean Online Editor travels to SC for NBC News

Dunmorean Online Editor Emily Fedor recently traveled to South Carolina to cover the state’s Republican primary for NBC News with a group of her classmates and professors from the Roy H. Park School of Communications at Ithaca College.

The nine journalism students visited  a number of different locations, including the state capital of Columbia as well as a few local colleges and universities, to gage the thoughts and opinions of millennial voters in regard to the current presidential election.

During the course of the trip, Fedor contributed content that was featured in online articles and in posts made on NBC BLK’s Instagram. She additionally took over NBC News’s SnapChat account with one of her classmates on the day of the primary and provided hourly updates on the scene of the campaign trail.

Fedor is currently  a senior journalism major at Ithaca College scheduled to graduate this coming May.

Dunmore 8th grade basketball team maintains undefeated league record

The team records are: 2014-2015 10-0 League 17-0 Overall, and 2015-2016  10-0 League 16-1 Overall.

Local gymnasts earn competition honors

Level 10 gymnasts from the United Sports Academy in Dunmore include from left: Mackenzie Black, a sophomore at Dunmore High School; Emma Firmstone, a senior at Honesdale High School; Adeliner Rieder, a sophomore at Scranton prep; and Taylor Osterhout, an 8th grade student at Abington Heights.

Two Dunmoreans in the Junior Olympic team program at United Sports Academy, located in Dunmore, who participated in competitions over the weekend of February 12-14 brought home honors.

Ten-year-old, Maura Michalczyk, a fourth grader at Dunmore Elementary Center, is a level 4 gymnast who competed in the Dalmatian Classic in Wales, Pa., over the weekend and took home first place on Vault, first place on Bars, first place on Beam, second place on Floor, and first place All Around.

The second gymnast is 16-year-old Mackenzie Black, who is currently a sophomore at Dunmore High School., She is a  level 10 gymnast at United Sports Academy and  just competed in the Presidential Classic in Disney World. Mackenzie took home first place on Vault, first place on Floor, third on Beam and third place All Around.
