The Dunmore Lions Club recently held its 40th annual Scholarship Award Dinner at La Buona Vita Restaurant, Dunmore. Honored with Penn State Scholarships were William Portanova of Dunmore High School and Rebecca Tone of Holy Cross High School.
Also, honored with monetary gifts were Dunmore High School Male Scholar/Athlete Cristian Buckley and Female Scholar /Athlete Anna Talutto and Holy Cross High School Male Scholar/Athlete Tyler Mendicino and Female Scholar/Athlete Cristia Polizzi.

Remarks were made by Michael Perry, Dunmore High School’s assistant football coach, who is Cristian’s brother) and Kandy Taylor, Holy Cross High School‘s dean of students, who is Tyler’s aunt. Presentations of awards were made by Lion President Jim Aita and Lion Treasurer Sam Sebastianelli Sr. Lion Michael Colangelo offered invocation and Lion Justin Patchcoski served as toastmaster.
Patchcoski congratulated all award recipients, “Not only for the great honor they are about to receive, but to be at such an exciting time in their life, adding, “it’s probably hard to see now, given the uncertainty of the past 15 months, but I promise you will all look back on this night and all the wonderful memories of your high school athletic and academic careers often and fondly.”.
The Dunmore lions have been serving the community of Dunmore for over 69 years
