Dunmorean Honored with Woman of Excellence Award

VoyagerVideoPR_SageLindsay Barrasse, Dunmore, of Voyager Video was the recipient of the 2017 SAGE Award for Woman of Excellence. This award honors a woman whose character, conduct, service, leadership and achievements, personally and professionally, contribute to the current and future development of the Greater Scranton community.

The award was presented at The Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce Gala on Thursday, Nov. 2. The SAGE Awards celebrate the outstanding efforts of the local business community.

Award finalists and winners were chosen from more than 100 applications submitted by businesses across northeastern Pennsylvania. More than 500 guests attended The Chamber’s premier event, which was held at The Theater at North.  

All of the awards, with the exception of the People’s Choice Award, were judged by individual judging committees comprised of volunteer judges. Each judge independently scored the applications using a point system and award winners were selected.  

sageFor the past four years Lindsay has been an active member of The Junior League of Scranton which is organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Lindsay also serves on the NAMI of Scranton and Northeast Region board and is the organization’s Social Media and Communications Chair.

This is Lindsay’s third year serving as the Vice President Secretary of The American Advertising Federation of Northeast Pennsylvania and the fifth year on the board overall.

Nationally she is a member of The United Nations Association (UNA-USA), the U.S. National Committee for UN Women, Friends of the ASC (American Society of Cinematographers), a support of the New York Women and Film organization and Directed By Women.

Lindsay also heavily involves herself in the Northeast Pennsylvania Arts Community donating countless hours with the Arts on The Square and Holiday Market Events, The Throop Arts Fest, The Scranton Fringe Festival, The Northeast Film Festival (formerly Belin Film Festival), Fire At The Iron Furnaces, Bonfire At The Iron Furnaces, The Rainbow Alliance of NEPA and The Boss Ladies of NEPA.

Applications Available for SAGE Awards

SAGEApplications for the Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce’s annual SAGE Awards (Scranton Awards for Growth and Excellence) are now available on the Chamber’s website.

The awards are presented annually to members of the local business community who demonstrate strong and consistent efforts through their talent, creativity and innovation. Applicants must be current Chamber members in good standing.

This year’s SAGE award categories include Best Practices in Community Development, Best Practices in Customer Service, Best Practices in Marketing and Communications, Business of the Year, Excellence in Leadership, Hometown Star, New and Emerging Business of the Year, Non-Profit Organization of the Year, Small Business of the Year and Woman of Excellence.

In addition, there will be three “Pride and Progress” awards available for interior and exterior renovations and new construction.

All SAGE Award finalists will be entered into the People’s Choice Award category. The recipient of that award will be determined by an online community-wide popular vote.

The SAGE Awards will be presented at the Chamber’s Gala will be held on Thursday, Nov. 2, at the Theater at North, 1539 North Main Ave., Scranton.

Dunmoreans honored with 2016 Sage Awards

Various Dunmore businesses and organizations were honored when the Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce has announced the winners of the 2016 SAGE Awards (Scranton Awards for Growth and Excellence), which honor outstanding local businesses for their talent, creativity, and innovation. The winner of each award category was publicly announced at The Chamber Gala in November at The Theater at North.

More than 100 applications were received. A group of community leaders and professionals teamed up to review applications and select finalists. The Chamber is proud to honor businesses that are making valuable contributions to the region and contributing to our overall quality of life.
