Holy Name Society Gathers for Annual Communion Breakfast

Saints Anthony and Rocco Parish Holy Name Society, Dunmore held its 62nd Annual Communion Breakfast on Sunday, Feb. 3, at La Buona Vita.

The day began with 8:30 a.m. Mass at St. Anthony of Padua Church celebrated by the Reverend David P. Cappelloni, pastor.

Music was provided by the parish choir under the direction of Joseph Moffitt.

Teddy Michel, Regional Director of Ignatian Volunteer Corps of NEPA  and principal speaker, at right was presented with society’s Pio Ferrario Christian Witness Award by Father Cappelloni, left.

Choral Competition Set for March 24th

UNICO choral competition

The Keystone Chapter of UNICO National is sponsoring a high school choral competition to be held on Sunday, March 24 at 2 p.m. at Peoples Security Bank Theatre at Lackawanna College.

Proceeds will benefit local charities and scholarships. Cost for tickets is $10 for adults, $5 for students. Children five and under are free.

For tickets, contact Toni DiVizio at 570-344-2388. To date, three high schools are competing to win monetary prizes — Valley View, Mid Valley and Abington Heights.

Any Lackawanna County High School Choral Group wishing to compete may call Michele McDade at 570-343-7009 for further information.
