Mid Valley Student Nicholas Ferretti Receives Brian Piccolo Award

Nicholas Ferretti is the winner of this year’s Brian Piccolo Award, which he received at Dunmore’s Keystone UNICO Awards Dinner at La Buona Vita.  The award includes the Brian Piccolo Plaque and $1,000.

Nicholas resides in Olyphant and attends Mid Valley High School where he attained a 4.0 GPA.  He actively competed in baseball, basketball, lacrosse and soccer. Nicholas has chosen Penn State Main for his higher education, where he will major in engineering.

Valley View Student Wins UNICO’s Brian Piccolo Award

Dunmore’s Keystone Chapter UNICO  presented its first Brian Piccolo Award to a deserving high school senior in Lackawanna County.

Under the direction of Keystone UNICO member Marilyn Vitali, the awardee is selected from a pool of candidates submitted by each of the Lackawanna County high schools. Qualifications include a B or better grade average, exemplary amount of service hours, good character, acceptance into college, Italian ethnicity and excellence in sports.

The award is named after the late Brian Piccolo, NFL running back for the Chicago Bears. This first award was presented to Anthony Ceccarelli Jr. from Valley View High School, who is furthering his education at Penn State Main Campus.
