Lackawanna Commissioners Recognize C.A.S.U.A.L Day

The Lackawanna County Commissioners issued a proclamation to recognize the impact the Northeast Regional Cancer Institute’s (NRCI) 16th annual C.A.S.U.A.L Day has on the fight against colon cancer in our region.

Established by the family of the late Helen Phillips, the event urges residents to get screened for early detection of colon cancer and also highlights the medical breakthroughs that have saved lives.

Elite Bunny Hunt Planned for April 20th

The annual Elite Bunny Hunt will be held Holy Saturday, April 20 at St. Anthony’s Playground at the top of Hill Street, Dunmore.  The Hunt is for children 11 years old or younger. The Bunny Hunt begins at 10 a.m. in the playground field areas.

In the event of inclement weather, St. Anthony’s Pavilion will be utilized to hand out all the treats and prizes. The event is being co-sponsored by the Dunmore Lions Club, Dunmore Rotary Club, and the Dunmore Police Department.

Fidelity Supports Community Projects

Fidelity Bank, in Dunmore, recently presented 37 local non-profit organizations and educational institutions with Pennsylvania Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) funds totaling $630,000. Contributions ranged from $2,500 to $120,000 per organization.

The EITC program is in keeping with Fidelity Bank’s commitment to support the communities it serves in Northeastern Pennsylvania through charitable giving. Through partnerships between local businesses, parents, and scholarship organizations, EITC funding gives local students opportunities for better educational outcomes.

The Bank’s participation in the EITC program is an important investment in the communities we serve, and we look forward to watching the youth of our region grow and prosper,” said Daniel J. Fidelity gives to Girl Scouts

Among the organizations which received contributions from Fidelity were: Diocese of Scranton Scholarship Foundation, United Way of Lackawanna and Wayne Counties, $120,000; Greater Scranton YMCA in Dunmore, $30,000; Commonwealth Charitable Management, Greater Pittston YMCA, Luzerne County Community Foundation, Nativity/Miguel School of Scranton, Northeastern Pennsylvania Educational Television Association (WVIA), PA Council on Financial Literacy, Scranton Cultural Center at the Masonic Temple, Scranton Preparatory School scholarship fund, Wilkes-Barre Family YMCA, $20,000; Marywood University’s MOMENTUM program, Wyoming Valley Montessori School, $15,000; King’s College Pre-Kindergarten Scholarship Program, Lackawanna College for Environmental Education Center, NEPA Center for Independent Living, NeighborWorks NEPA, University of Scranton for the University of Success program; , United Way of Wyoming Valley; Scranton Hebrew Day School scholarship fund, $10,000.

Also,  F.M. Kirby Center for the Performing Arts for Arts in Education program, Jewish Community Alliance of Northeastern Pennsylvania; Junior Achievement of NEPA; Leadership Lackawanna, Misericordia University’s Speech Language and Hearing Center; Skills in Scranton, Voluntary Action Center (VAC), Women’s Resource Center (WRC), $,5000; Abington Community Library, Abington Heights Educational Improvement Organization, Outreach, and Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania, $2,500.
