Dunmore Pharmacist Recognized for “Good Works”

Tom DePietro and his pharmacy are community driven.  For his “Good Works” and charitable efforts, he was recognized by the NE Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.  Mr. DePietro accomplished his dream of owning a pharmacy and serving customers with the latest technology.

Tom is also actively involved with insurance companies, helping them to stop drug abusers and thereby creating a safer environment for pharmacists, doctors and patients.

Dunmoreans honored with 2016 Sage Awards

Various Dunmore businesses and organizations were honored when the Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce has announced the winners of the 2016 SAGE Awards (Scranton Awards for Growth and Excellence), which honor outstanding local businesses for their talent, creativity, and innovation. The winner of each award category was publicly announced at The Chamber Gala in November at The Theater at North.

More than 100 applications were received. A group of community leaders and professionals teamed up to review applications and select finalists. The Chamber is proud to honor businesses that are making valuable contributions to the region and contributing to our overall quality of life.

This year’s winner from the borough of Dunmore included:

  • DePietro’s Pharmacy – Best Practices in Community Involvement
  • The Greater Scranton YMCA – Non-Profit Organization of the Year
  • Marywood University’s Learning Commons, Pride & Progress – New Construction.

DHS Class of 1966 honors deceased classmates with lantern release

A lantern ceremony was recently held in memory of the deceased members of the Dunmore High School Class of 1966 on the grounds of Dunmore High School. Lanterns were donated by Tom DePietro of DePietro’s Pharmacy and the Dunmore Fire Department provided lighting and security.

The Dunmore High School Choir, under the direction of Colleen Bender, sang the school’s alma mater during the event. The ceremony was organized by Ann Marie Longo and other members of the class and community served as volunteers.
