Lion’s Club Recognizes Student Excellence at Annual Banquet

 

lionsThe Dunmore Lions Club recently held its 36th annual Scholarship Award Banquet at La Buona Vita Restaurant, Dunmore.  

Honored with Penn State scholarships were Paul Marmo of Holy Cross High School and Ryan Chao of Dunmore High School.

Remarks were offered by Margo Balderson, Senior Guidance Counselor, at Dunmore High School and Kandy Taylor, Dean of Students, at Holy Cross High School.

Presentation of Awards was made by Lion President James Aita and Committee Chairman Lion Sal Marchese. Lion James Colangelo served as toastmaster and commented “These and past award recipients demonstrate the outstanding traits necessary to receive Lions awards. All recipients have shown exemplary leadership. They’re all amazing students.”

Dunmoreans make Dean’s List at area college

uofsMore than 1,500 were named to The University of Scranton’s Dean’s List for the 2016 fall semester. The Dean’s List recognizes students for academic excellence. A student must have a grade point average of 3.5 or better with a minimum number of credit hours during the fall semester to make the Dean’s List. The list includes students from the Jesuit university’s College of Arts and Sciences, Kania School of Management and Panuska College of Professional Studies.

Dean’s List students from Dunmore were: Wadha H. Alquahtani, Tyler M. Bielinski, Matthew I. Fisk, Gabriella G. Fletcher, Delia C. Gavin, Aimee M. Hall, Courtney A. Higgins, Danielle B. Higgins, Rachel M. Kranick, Alicia L. Lipinski, Alyssa C. Mackiw, Katherine F. Notarianni and Sarah M. Rosar.

lccLackawanna College has recognized the 200 students named to its President’s List for academic excellence during the Fall 2016-17 semester. A student qualifies for the President’s List if they achieve a grade point average of 3.5 or better with a minimum of 24 credit hours, including 12 credits during the most recent semester.

Dunmore students named to the President’s List are: Al Husayn A. Abu Bakr, Pasquale J. Mandarano, Shannon M. Regan,Robert J. Seprish, and Lin Zhu.

Three hundred seventy Lackawanna College students were named to the Dean’s List for the Fall 2016 semester. A student qualifies for the Dean’s List if they achieve a grade point average of 3.2 with a minimum of nine credit hours to qualify.
