Dunmore’s Keystone Chapter UNICO National will be conducting its 12th annual Charity Pig Roast. This year “Equines For Freedom” is the primary beneficiary. The event will be conducted at Fiorelli’s Catering on Saturday, April 20 from 5-9 p.m. The theme is “A Little Bit Country” and dress is country (no spurs) or casual. There will be an open bar from 5-7 with passed hors d’oeuvres during the first hour. The dinner will be a sumptuous Italian Buffet. “EJ the DJ” will provide music.
There will be chances for an extensive basket raffle, money umbrella, Wilbur the money pig, and a “Wheelbarrow of Spirits.” Cost is $70. Dunmore’s Keystone Chapter UNICO recently attended a presentation on keeping Columbus Day as the National Holiday on the second Monday in October and not having it changed to Indigenous Day, as some legislators want to do.
Speakers at this presentation were Andre’ DiMino of the Italian American One Voice Coalition (IAOVC), and Eunice Davidson, a full-blooded Dakota Sioux Native American and member of the Spirit Lake Reservation in North Dakota, and first president of the Native American Guardian Association. The two organizations are in concert with keeping Columbus Day as is. The Scranton Chapter of UNICO National sponsored this event that many local Italian American organizations attended.
