Dunmore’s Keystone UNICO donated $500 to the Northeast Suicide Prevention Initiative’s “Share the Journey Drive” fundraiser at Nay Aug Park as part of their ongoing community support during this COVID-19 Pandemic.
This was appropriate because so many have been under an unusual amount of emotional stress for over six months with this pandemic. Donations can made on line at their website www.northeastsuicidepreventioninitiative.org.

UNICO National PA II District Governor Cathy Bianchi recently conducted the First Quarter District Meeting at Fiorelli’s in Peckville.
Dunmore’s Keystone UNICO served as host chapter. Along with the District’s Chapters, UNICO National president Dr. Frank DeFrank, first vice president Dr. Peter Pettinato, second vice president Ralph Contini, and National administrator Sal Benvenuti were present.
The evening included chapter presidents giving their chapter’s report and President DeFrank participated as the new member inducting officer and as the presenter of the Chapter Achievement Awards to the Binghamton, Carbondale and Keystone Chapters.All three received Achievement Certificates and Banner Patches.
Keystone was recognized for taking second place in the national competition. Keystone was also recognized for conducting the Best Local Special Project, which was their High School Choral Competition held in March at Lackawanna College.
District Governor Cathy Bianchi was congratulated by President DeFrank on conducting an excellent and informative meeting.
Jim Brogna, outgoing president of the Scranton Chapter of UNICO National, presents the Al Dante Distinguished Service Award to Jim Sagona, the chapter’s second vice president.
This award, named for the late Mr. Dante, who served as Scranton Chapter president and UNICO National president, recognizes outstanding service to the chapter and community.
Jim Sagona is the chapter webmaster, coordinator of the chapter’s Day of Service, and helps conduct the annual Christmas party at the Boys and Girls Club, among other efforts. This year he conceived and implemented a special project: producing personal protective face shields for health care and first responder personnel.
