Rizzuto Award presented at 101st UNICO National Convention

Retired Colonel Carol Martini Hemphill recently received the prestigious Antonio Rizzuto Award from UNICO National at its 101st Annual Convention in Princeton, NJ.  The Keystone Chapter of UNICO National nominated Carol for her “Service Above Self” volunteerism here and abroad.  She is also a past District Rotarian. 

The Rizzuto Award is the highest award presented to a non-member of UNICO National.  During the convention, Keystone Chapter UNICO was recognized for its Chapter Achievement with a Certificate and Banner Patch.

Dr. Solfanelli honored with prestigious award

Dr. Stephen X. Solfanelli, DDS was recently honored with the prestigious UNICO National Antonio R. Rizzuto Award at its 99th Annual Convention in New Orleans.  The Rizzuto award is the highest and most distinguished honor UNICO National may bestow upon any non-member. 

Dr. Solfanelli was nominated by the Scranton Chapter UNICO and was unanimously chosen by the Rizzuto Award Committee to receive this honor for his humanitarian efforts in serving in Honduras, the second poorest country in Central America, with his expert dental care.  UNICO National, the largest Italian American service organization in the United States, was founded on October 10, 1922, in Waterbury, CT and is now celebrating its 100th anniversary.  Local chapters include Carbondale, Dunmore and Scranton.
