Mayor’s Message: May 2024

By Mayor Max Conway

I’m convinced that if you traveled the country, you wouldn’t find a community as tight-knit as Dunmore. If you were at the Dunmore Community Center on Saturday, April 20th, you’d see why.

For the past 10 years, the annual Jog for Jude event has brought many people together to raise awareness and funds for S.I.D.S. (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) research. The event honors Jude Zayac, who tragically passed away in July 2014.

Jog for Jude is a shining example of the Dunmore community rallying around one of our own and turning an unimaginable tragedy into an opportunity to inspire hope in all of us.

Mayor’s Message: March 2024

On behalf of the entire Borough of Dunmore, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the Crotti and Grogan families on the passing of their beloved Sonny.

The sudden loss of someone so young and vibrant is difficult to comprehend. Sonny demonstrated remarkable bravery in the face of his unimaginable diagnosis, and his strength and determination served as an inspiration to us all. His departure has deeply shaken our community, leaving a profound sense of loss that will be forever carried by all who knew him.

Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone who knew Sonny as they navigate through this difficult time.

Mayor’s Message: February 2024

By Mayor Max Conway

It has been a busy start to 2024 in the Borough. I’d like to take this opportunity to talk about something I feel very strongly towards and that is the news about potential water rate increases for Dunmore and Scranton residents.

I recently had the opportunity to address the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) and voice my strong opposition to the MASSIVE 25%-32% increase that PA American Water is looking to impose on Dunmore ratepayers. This potential increase is on top of the monstrous 70+% increase Dunmoreans saw just last year on their sewer bill.

I urged the PUC to think about the potential damage another large increase would do to our community and its residents. Water is a basic necessity and access to it should not become a luxury. No one should be forced to choose between paying for water and paying for their mortgage or groceries.
