Celebration to Honor “Man of the Year”

The Ancient Order of Hibernians will hold a party for the Paul “Hook” O’Malley Man of the Year Award in honor of Kevin Shaughnessy on Thursday, March 1, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Fiorelli Catering, 1501 Main St., Peckville.

John Mitchell Day Ceremony

The John Mitchell Day Ceremony and Man of the Year was held this year at the Cathedral Cemetery.

Mitchell was the great labor leader who fought for an eight-hour work day, minimum wage, and safety standards in the mines.  The AOH Hook O’Malley Division 4 has been celebrating John Mitchell Day for the past 13 years.  Keith Oleski, AOH member, was awarded Man of the Year for his past dedication to the Union and his community.

The Paul “Hook” O’Malley Ancient Order of Hibernians, Lackawanna County Division #4 held their “Man of the Year” dinner in March at Fiorelli’s.  This year’s recipient was District Judge Terrence Gallagher.
