State Rep. Frank Farina, D-Lackawanna, announced today that fire departments, ambulance and rescue squads serving the 112th Legislative District are receiving state grants totaling more than $250,000. Dunmore Fire Department will receive a grant of $13,789. Farina said he is proud of the award recipients in his legislative district.

“This state funding is vital because our fire and ambulance squads save lives in times of tragedy and are always available when we need them throughout the year,” Farina said.

The grants are from Pennsylvania’s Fire Company and Volunteer Ambulance Service Grant Program and were awarded in February. In all, 2,538 grants were awarded statewide. The grants are funded partly by gaming revenue.
