UNICO presents check to Equines for Freedom

 

The Keystone Chapter UNICO National presented a $1,754.70 check to “Equines for Freedom” from the proceeds of their “Applebee’s Flapjack Breakfast”.  “Equines for Freedom” is an organization at Marley’s Mission that offers horse therapy to veterans suffering from post traumatic stress disease (PTSD).

Allied Services makes donation to Ryan Michalcyzk Memorial Fund

The Michalczyk family recently visited the new Dunmore Rehab Center to  receive a donation from the Allied Services Integrated Health System. Representatives from Allied Services presented the family with a donation to the Ryan Mason Michalczyk Memorial Fund.

The fund was established in 2009 in memory of one-year-old Ryan Mason Michalczyk who passed away unexpectedly in his sleep.

To date, the fund has renovated and paid for upkeep of St. Anthony’s Memorial Playground, provided a substantial donation to Sherwood Park’s creation and maintenance of a splash pad, and has donated to numerous children and families in need within the community affected by health and/or financial struggles.

Kiwanis Club supports YMCA Learn to Swim program

Kiwanis Club of Scranton recently presented the Greater Scranton YMCA with a $1,200 contribution to support the 2016 Learn to Swim Program.

The GS YMCA’s Annual Learn to Swim Program gives children an opportunity to learn new swimming skills and improve skills they already know. These concentrated one-week sessions will incorporate safety around needed water skills.

Due to the Kiwanis Club donation, each one-week session is offered for $25 ($5/lesson). The one-week sessions will run from June 20-24 and June 27-July 1. For registration information, visit: http://greaterscrantonymca.org/Aquatics-323.htm
