Anne Walker Kelly, 87, Dunmore, died early Thursday at home. She and her husband, John E. Kelly, celebrated 60 years of marriage on January 7^th of this year.

Born in Pittston, daughter of the late William E. and Mary Clisham Walker, she was a graduate of Pittston High School and the Pittston Hospital School of Nursing. As a registered nurse, she had practiced in Pittston, Scranton, Pittsburgh, and Philadelphia. She was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish in Dunmore. A beloved wife and mother, she will be deeply missed.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by their sons, John P. of Los Angeles, CA, and William of Fairfax, VA; her brothers, William E. of Kendall Park, NJ, John and James of Pittston, and Patrick of East Stroudsburg; as well as nieces, nephews, and godchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial and interment in Dunmore Cemetery will be privately held.

Contributions in Anne’s memory may be made to St. Ann’s Monastery and Shrine Basilica, 1233 St. Ann St., Scranton, PA 18504.

Remembering Irene Cinquegrani

On February 4, 1911, Irene Mafalda Cinquegrani was born in the Cinquegrani family home on Robinson Street, in the Hyde Park section of Scranton, to Pasquale and Rosalia Martellaro Cinquegrani, and passed away on February 16, 2021.

She grew up in the same neighborhood, attended St. Francis Cabrini Elementary School, went on to attend Scranton High School and subsequently graduated from Lackawanna Business School. Upon graduation, she started working at the Community Chest and after 2 years began a career at Northeastern National Bank, which later became PNC, as a bookkeeper, retiring after 38 years of service. She was a member of SS Anthony and Rocco Parish Dunmore and was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society.

Irene was a family caregiver, starting with her parents, and having never married, all her nieces and nephews were her children. She never learned to cook because she didn’t have to since her mother and her sister Jo were both phenomenal cooks, but boy could she bake. She was never known to not have a dust cloth in her hand or be in front of a sink of dishes when not at the Bank.

She is survived by nieces and nephews, Joseph Andriole, M.D. (Nancy Kay), Elaine Andriole Reisert, Richard Andriole, Brian Cinquegrani, Carole Cinquegrani Saunders (Edward), Dennis Cinquegrani (Veronika), Paul Cinquegrani, Anne Cinquegrani Wentline (Leo), Vincent A. Cinquegrani, Jr. (Regina Zibuck Ph.D.), Grace Cinquegrani Mackin (Jerome), Rev. R. Bruce Cinquegrani and Rev. David J. Cinquegrani, C.P., and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by sisters, Grace Tellie and Josephine Andriole, brothers, Vincent A. Cinquegrani Sr., Robert F. Cinquegrani, and nephews Vincent Andriole, M.D., and Theodore Tellie.

The family would like to thank the entire staff at Green Ridge Healthcare, especially Johnessa, Katie, Duffy, Amanda, Shaylyn, Brenton, Jamal and so many others too numerous to mention, for their wonderful and compassionate care for lrene these past 6 years. She loved each and every one of you.

There will be no viewing. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at 11 AM at St. Anthony of Padua Church, Smith St., Dunmore, celebrated by her nephews, Rev. R. Bruce Cinquegrani and Rev. David J. Cinquegrani, C.P. All those attending are asked to follow current safety guidelines in regard to wearing a mask and social distancing.

For those unable to attend, the funeral will be livestreamed and may be viewed via the funeral home Facebook page.

Interment, Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.

Remembering Clare Babinec

Clare C. Babinec, 97, Dunmore, died early Tuesday morning in Abington Manor where she has resided the past several years. She was the wife of the late John P. Babinec who died in 1989.

Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late John and Clare Hauseman Malseed and was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Dunmore. Clare attended and graduated from Philadelphia schools and prior to retirement she had worked as a buyer at FW Woolworth’s Co.

Her family wishes to express their appreciation to the nurses and staff at Abington Manor for the care and compassion shown to Clare during her stay with them.

Surviving are a son John Garrity and his wife Anita, Blakley, two daughters, Mary Dunda and her husband John, and Kim Babinec, all of Dunmore, five grandchildren, John Garrity, Jr., Jessup, Scott Garrity and his wife Sarah, Archbald, Jake Dunda, Roaring Brook Twp., Lexie Dunda and Maxwell Babinec, both of Dunmore, three great grandchildren, John, Frankie, and Amelia Garrity, as well as several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held privately in St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church in Dunmore. Interment will take place in the Dunmore Cemetery.
