Support for Keystone Mission’s Code Blue program

FNCB Bank, through the FNCB Bank Charitable Foundation, has given a $2,500 donation to Keystone Mission for its Code Blue Emergency Shelter program.

The Code Blue Shelter is an emergency shelter that serves people who are homeless and who might otherwise remain unsheltered during periods of extreme winter weather throughout Lackawanna and Luzerne County. A “Code Blue” alert is issued when the forecast temperature, including wind chills, is expected to reach 20 degrees or lower, or a foot or more of snow, according to AccuWeather.

Holy Name Society’s 65th annual communion breakfast

SS. Anthony and Rocco Parish Holy Name Society, Dunmore held its 65th Annual Communion Breakfast on Feb. 19th at La Buona Vita. The day began with morning  Mass at St. Anthony of Padua Church celebrated by the Reverend David P. Cappelloni, pastor. Music was provided by the parish choir under the direction of Joseph Moffitt.

Diocese of Scranton Seminarian, Thomas Dzwonczyk, shown left, was Principal Speaker.

At the 65th Annual Communion Breakfast hosted by the Holy Name Society of SS. Anthony and Rocco Parish in Dunmore, Thomas “Chick” DePietro was presented with the society’s Pio M. Ferrario Christian Witness Award by Rev. David P. Cappelloni, pastor.

Father Cappelloni also offered invocation and benediction. Music was provided by the parish choir under the direction of Joseph Moffitt.

Breakfast speakers and committee members for the 65th annual Holy Name Society of SS. Anthony and Rocco Paris breakfast held at St. Anthony of Padua Church were on hand for the event.

Successful season for Holy Cross JV cross country team

Holy Cross High School’s JV  cross country had an amazing season as Lackawanna League Division ‘A’ Champions with 17 wins and 6 losses, and The Vince Fedor Lackawanna League Boys JV cross country Class ‘A’ Champions.
