Service Held to Honor Donors of Stained Glass Memory Windows

Methodist Church Windows - In Memory ofA special service was held at Dunmore United Methodist Church to honor donors of eight antique stained glass windows installed in 1888. Each is inscribed “Gift of” or “In memory of” with the name of a person.

Cynthia Zujkowski, a self-described history buff, was curious about the people so remembered and decided to do some research, and consequently, was able to get in touch with a handful of living descendants of the donors, who were invited to the Memorial Day service.

The response to the invitation was enthusiastic, with one man coming from Florida, another from California, and two women from Virginia. Ms. Zujkowski did a presentation on the historical information discovered thus far about these founding members of the congregation.

The window inscriptions include: In memory of Annie E. Hopkins; In memory of Robert and Mary Pinnell; In memory of Stewart Dilley; In memory of Allen Secor; Gift of Angeline Dersheimer, Gift of Thomas Dersheimer; Gift of the Oxford League, and Gift of Jones Pinnell.
