Man of the Year Party

The Ancient Order of Hibernians held a party recently for the Paul “Hook” O’Malley Man of the Year Award in honor of Kevin Shaughnessy in recognition of his many organizations and charitable involvements.

The event kicked off the St. Patrick’s Day season with the AOH Paul “Hook” O’Malley Man of the Year award presented and the event featured a proclamation by Congressman Matt Cartwright. Proceeds benefit All Saints Academy scholarships.

Engagement Announcement: Sarah Dempsey and Joseph Desmarteau

Announcement is made of the engagement and upcoming marriage of Sarah Dempsey and Joseph Desmarteau, both of Clarks Green.

Daughter of Patrick and Karen Bewick Dempsey, Jefferson Township, the bride-to-be is a graduate of Scranton Preparatory School and holds master’s degrees in education and organization management from Misericordia University. She is an instructor of The Pennsylvania State University.

Son of Mary Ann Ott Desmarteau, Seven Hills, Ohio, and the late Edward Desmarteau, her fiancé is a graduate of St. Ignatius High School, Cleveland, and received a master’s degree in business administration from Dayton University. He is pursuing a doctoral degree in educational leadership at Wilkes University, where he serves as special assistant to the dean in the College of Science and Engineering.

The wedding is planned for June 30 in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Dunmore.

UNICO Hosts Induction for New Members
