Diogenes Society Recognizes Commissioner for Community Service

The Diogenes Society held its annual meeting last month at The Scranton Club, where Lackawanna Commissioner Patrick O’Malley received a special award for community service.

Diogenes Club celebrates birthday of Sherlock Holmes

Members of the Diogenes Club of Lackawanna County held its annual meeting recently at The Scranton Club to celebrate the birthday of Sherlock Holmes.

The festive event salutes Holmes, as well as his creator, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle; his friend Doctor Watson, the housekeeper Mrs. Hudson, and Queen Victoria.

The group will be awarding an eighth grade class in Lackawanna County copies of the Sherlock Holmes classic, “The Hound of the Baskervilles,” in honor of the late Alan Sweeney, club founder.
