Actors Circle will hold auditions for Neil Simon’s comedy “Come Blow Your Horn” on Monday, Sept. 12, and Tuesday, Sept. 13, from 7-9 pm at Providence Playhouse 1256 Providence Road, Scranton. Roles include Alan Baker, a 30ish swinging bachelor with time, money, and women to spare, and his rebellious and eager 21-year brother Buddy. This farcical 60’s romp became a hit movie starring Frank Sinatra. The show runs two weekends, Nov 3 – 13. Needed are men and women 21-60’s. TEDxScranton conference
TEDxScranton is coming to the Peoples Security Bank Theater at Lackawanna College on Saturday, Sept. 17, at 3 p.m. Featuring six local and regional speakers, TEDxScranton is a half-day conference for “ideas worth spreading,” demonstrating perspectives through the lens of higher ground, the theme for the event. All talks will be live, in-person on the theater stage and later featured on the official TED website and TEDx YouTube page after the production. Marywood art exhibits
Two Marywood art galleries will feature new exhibits, beginning Sat., Sept. 10. The exhibits, opening receptions, and gallery talks are free and open to the public.
The Mahady Gallery, located on the first floor of the Shields Center for Visual Arts at Marywood University, is hosting Art Faculty Biennial 2022, an exhibition by Marywood Art Department faculty that showcases a diverse range of styles, mediums, and techniques. The opening reception is set for Sat., Sept. 10, from 3-5 p.m. A gallery talk is scheduled for Wed., Sept. 28, at 3 p.m.
The Suraci Gallery, located on the second floor of the Shields Center for Visual Arts at Marywood University, is hosting P.W. Costello: From Breaker Boy to Master Engrosser. The opening reception is set for Sat., Sept. 10, from 3-5 p.m. A gallery talk is scheduled for Mon., Oct. 3, at 1 p.m.
Night of Comedy
The Scranton Cultural Center at the Masonic Temple is pleased to announce “A Night of Comedy with Samantha Ruddy and Friends” on Oct. 21 at 8 p.m. at Shopland Hall with doors opening at 7 p.m.
Fresh off her appearance on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon,” NEPA native Samantha Ruddy will headline the night. She will be joined by Martin Urbano (“The Tonight Show”) and more friends along the way! Cash bar will be available for patrons 21 and over and concessions will also be available for purchase.

Mega bingo
Mega bingo will be held Oct. 9 at 3 pl.m. at Scott Township Hose Company held by District 14-H Lions. Doors will open at 1 p.m. Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 at the door. There will be prizes and raffles baskets. For tickets, call 5870-489-1965.
Rummage sale
The 12th Annual Fundraiser Rummage/Furniture Sale of SS. Cyril and Methodius Ukrainian Catholic Church, Olyphant, will take place Sept. 23 and 2. Hours on, Friday and Saturday are from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. at St. Cyril’s School gym inside and outside, at 133 River St., Olyphant. This is one of the largest rummage/furniture sales in the area with over 12,000+ pieces of merchandise, all categorized and ticketed. Items include furniture, all categories of household items, ladies’ accessories, books, seasonal items, music media, books, vintage items, hardware, religion, and so much more. Raffle baskets tickets will be available for purchase.
ARC membership mixer
Friends of the Arc Auxiliary will host a membership mixer on Wednesday, Oct. 5, at 6 p.m. with special presentations by Sara Wolff and the Tutti Ensemble. Tickets are $10. An artwork exhibit will be presented by the Arc Masterpiece Progam with a special raffle of an art piece donated by Tom Hennigan. An Around-the-World theme will inspire the hors d’oevres. 5Kate Run/Walk
A Mental Health Awareness Fair and the 5Kate Run/Walk will be held on Saturday, Oct. 15, at 10 a.m. at the Nay Aug Park Pavilion next to the swim complex. The Katie Foundation, named after Katie Shoener, has joined with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) and Katie’s Place Clubhouse to create awareness, education, and support for those experiencing mental illness. Fall Festival
Our Lady of the Abingtons under Pastor, Rev. Arbogaste Satoun, will hold its Annual Fall Festival on Saturday, Sept. 10, and Sunday, Sept.11, on the church grounds, 207 Seminary Road, Dalton.
The festival is Saturday from 5 -10 p.m. featuring pork barbecue and DJ Eric Petersen; Sunday from noon – 6 p.m. featuring chicken barbecue, with live music by The Quietmen. There is free parking and no admission.

NEPA Youth Shelter Gala
Tickets are now on sale for the NEPA Youth Shelter’s Annual Gala, an evening focused on raising funds and awareness for the experiences of unaccompanied youth in Northeastern Pennsylvania. This year’s Gala, themed “Fall In Love With Giving,” will take place on Thursday, Sept. 29, at 5 p.m. at the Radisson Lackawanna Station Hotel in Scranton.
The 2022 “Fall In Love With Giving” Gala will feature a sit-down meal, guest speakers, and a silent auction. Tickets for the Gala are $85 each and can be purchased on the Shelter’s website: https://www.nepayouthshelter.org/. Ticket sales will conclude on Sept. 10.

All proceeds from the event benefit the Shelter’s mission to provide quality emergency shelter and related services to unaccompanied youth ages 14 through high school graduation from all counties in NEPA.
The Shelter provides essentials such as food, clothing, and bathrooms, as well as services such as educational support, counseling, family reunification, and/or preparation for independent living. With a focus on social justice and advocacy, the Shelter is welcoming to youth from all backgrounds and especially affirming to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) youth.
