Dunmore senior first baseman Megan Pavlowski has done nothing but hit since she became a varsity starter in her sophomore season.

After hitting close to .400 in her first two years on the team, she is batting over .370 this year. She was 4-for-4, including two doubles, a run and RBI in the Lady Bucks 14-10 win over Old Forge, Saturday, April 25.

Daughter of Melissa and Tom Pavlowski, Dunmore, Megan is well versed and a member of numerous clubs at Dunmore High School.

She has a 95 academic average and 3.5 grade point average. Her favorite subject is Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.

The talented scholar-athlete is a member of the National Honor Society, French Club, Spanish Club, SADD, Service Club, Earth Club, Health Careers Club and is president of the TACT Club. She is also a basketball cheerleader.

Megan attributes a lot of her Dunmore softball success to her coach, Ryan Ferguson.

“He teaches us to be confident at all times. He tells us if we put hard work in during practice, then it will show up during the games.”

The senior stalwart said her parents have been great role models. “They always tell me to be respectful. One of their biggest things is telling me to treat people the way you would expect to be treated.”

Megan said she enjoys listening to music in her spare time and would like to see country singer Luke Holmes in concert.

Athlete of the Month - PavlowskiShe is going to Marywood University in the fall to study architecture, a five-year program. She also hopes to play on the Marywood softball team.

“My future goals are to get an architecture degree and become an architect. I would love to play more softball in college too.”

Megan was an honorable mention for her softball play as a junior last year at Dunmore.

“I think we have a good team. We all get along so well. We are well coached.”

Megan played five years of travel softball for the Northeast Diamonds. “It was a great experience.”

The well spoken and positive senior said she has enjoyed her experience at Dunmore. “Dunmore High School is great. It is like a family. It is my second home. We are all so close here. Dunmore is one town, one family.”

Megan expressed her thoughts on the recent retirement of Dunmore legendary football coach Jack Henzes.

“He is just a great man. He was my driving coach and my teacher for multiple years. He was such a great football coach. It is so sad to see him go. He is just an amazing gentleman. We are all sorry to see him retire.”

Megan Pavlowski has been playing softball and enjoying it to the fullest since the age of 5. Daughter of Thomas and Melissa Pavlowski, Dunmore, the talented first baseman-DH earned honorable mention as a utility player in her junior season after hitting a robust .376.

A three-year member of the Dunmore High School softball team, she hit .400 as a sophomore.

Interviewed by The Dunmorean via cell phone while she was vacationing in Spain, Megan reflected on her high school experience as she prepares to enter her senior year. “Going to Dunmore High School is so great,” she said. “It is like one big family. Everyone is always there for you. Everybody knows everyone at Dunmore. I love it.”

Megan is coached by Ryan Ferguson at Dunmore.

“He always teaches us to keep our heads up when we are down. He tells us to always keep doing our best.”

The out going scholar-athlete said her parents give her a lot of support.

“They are always there for me and very supportive. They always cheer for me. My mom cheers very loud for me. She is really into it.”

Megan has been playing travel softball the past four years for the Northeast Diamonds.

“The travel ball is so much fun,” she said. “I meet a lot of kids from all different schools. Some have become my closest friends. Traveling with them and meeting up with them is so much fun.”

Megan, during the interview, said she was enjoying her experience in Spain.

“I went with the Spanish Club from school. It’s so much fun in Spain. It’s really great seeing all the cathedrals, towns, villages and the culture. It’s been an incredible experience.”

Megan started her softball career by playing in various Dunmore Miss E Leagues. She plans on playing one more year at Dunmore and then in college.

 

“I would like to go to Marywood University to play softball and study architecture or interior design. My goal is to be a part of a great softball season next year at Dunmore and then get into Marywood and play four years of softball. I am leaning more towards majoring in architecture.”

 

Megan, always a positive thinker, is president of the TACT Club at Dunmore. She is also a basketball cheerleader and member of the Spanish Club. She has a 3.5 grade point average. Her favorite subject is history.

Megan is one who seems to enjoy life to the fullest. She enjoys listening to music in her spare time and would love to see country singer Luke Bryan in concert.

In the meantime, when she returns from Spain she will play travel ball for the whole summer. And she is loving every minute of it.
