Mayor’s Message: February 2023

By Mayor Max Conway

In a time where love and togetherness are needed more than ever, I am proud to promote our local flower and gift shops to all the residents of Dunmore.

These businesses have been a staple of our community for many years and it is only fitting that we support the hardworking owners and their dedicated employees that give so much back to our community.

I encourage all residents to visit these shops to find the perfect gift for their loved ones. From beautiful bouquets to unique and personal gifts, our local flower and gift shops have it all. Not only will you be showing your love and appreciation to someone special, but you will also be supporting local businesses and the Dunmore economy.

So this Valentine’s Day, let’s come together as a community and spread love and kindness to all.

Mayor’s Message: January 2023

It was a very busy holiday season in the Borough!

Early in December, we kicked off the Christmas season with our first ever “Christmas in the Corners” event and tree-lighting ceremony. To say it was a success would be an understatement. Over 1,000 people showed up at Fidelity Bank’s parking lot to ring in Christmas.

We had tents filled with gifts and treats for the kids, St. Mary’s Choir, Dunmore School Marching Band, bicycle raffles, a hot chocolate truck, stilt walkers, jugglers, and so much more. The event would not have been such a success without the support of so many local business owners and volunteers. It is important to remember that it’s not companies like Walmart and Target that make events like this happen–its businesses right here in Dunmore. Make sure you go out shop local!

The event was topped off with four-year-old David Rivera flipping the switch to light the tree (pictured here). David has been battling cancer these last few months and to see his face when the tree lit up, to me, is what the Christmas season is all about. I hope to see everyone there next year as we make it even bigger and better!

I also want to wish everyone a very happy New Year. I look forward to seeing what 2023 brings to this wonderful Borough! If you would like to keep up to date on other announcements and information, please follow me on Facebook at Mayor Max Conway!

Mayor’s Message: December 2022

Mayor of Dunmore

It was a busy November in the Borough! Last month we officially launched the Dunmore Business Association (DBA) and I am proud to say that the response has been incredible. In just under a month since launching, the DBA is now up over 100 members!

Starting a non-profit business group was more work than we anticipated, and would not have been possible without a few key people. I would like to thank Attorney Marianne Stivala of Brian J. Cali & Associates and C.P.A. Al Karaffa of Kronick Kalada Berdy & Co. for all their assistance organizing this group. Both Marianne and Al donated their time and expertise ensuring the group was organized officially and properly.

I also want to thank Maggie Calpin of Nibbles and Bits for all her work getting the DBA off the ground. I am incredibly grateful that we have such dedicated members of our community willing to lend their expertise to make Dunmore a better place to live, work, and do business! If you would like to join the DBA, please email DunmoreBusinessAssociation@gmail.com.

I also want to wish everyone a very happy and safe Holiday season. I hope that you share this festive time with those you love and those most important to you! I look forward to seeing what 2023 brings to this wonderful Borough!
