Bill Foley, center, a 31-year employee of the Lackawanna County Buildings & Grounds Department, had the honor of flipping the switch to light-up the 2018 County Christmas tree on November 29th.
Joining him at the ceremony were Commissioner Patrick M. O’Malley and Commissioner Laureen A. Cummings.
The Lackawanna County Commissioners presented a Certificate of Recognition to Patrick Dempsey, center, in honor of his retirement and dedicated service to the Lackawanna County Regional Planning Commission.
Mr. Dempsey was on the Board for nearly 50 years, holding the Chairmanship post for the past 39 years. The owner of Dempsey Textiles & Linens, he was appointed in 1969 and witnessed a tremendous amount of growth in our community.

Two former Lackawanna County Commissioners attended the final Commissioners Meeting on Dec. 19 at the Administration Building, 200 Adams Avenue. Former Commissioner Robert W. Pettinato, inside left, and former Commissioner Mike Washo, inside right, offered stories from their days in office and the impact it had on both their careers and the community.
