Annual Cancer Walk Raises $2,285 for American Cancer Society

Cancer check presentationThe 26th annual Hook O’Malley Run/Walk Against Cancer presented a check for $2,285 to the American Cancer Society on behalf of the late Paul “Hook” O’Malley, who succumbed to cancer 26 years ago.

Paul “Hook” O’Malley was a boxing coach, mentor, and father to the youth of our community, and is fondly remembered and deeply missed.

The O’Malley Family has been raising funds for cancer research for the past 26 years.

Hook O’Malley 5K Set for August 19th

hook2018The 26th Annual Hook O’Malley 5K Run/Walk will be held on Sunday, August 19, at McDade Park at 10 a.m.  Registration will be held 8:15-9:45 a.m. Registration will cost $20 up until Thursday, Aug. 16. Day of Race registration will be $25.

The 25th Annual Hook O’Malley 5K Run/Walk was held in memory of the late Paul “Hook” O’Malley, the late boxing coach, who succumbed to cancer on Sept. 25, 1992.  He believed in the spiritual, emotional, and physical health of the youth in his community.

A check made out for $2,100 was presented to the American Cancer Society on behalf of the O’Malley Family.
