Mayor’s Message: November 2023

By Mayor Max Conway

I am happy to report that the Dunmore Business Association is going full steam ahead with the planning of our second annual “Christmas in The Corners” event!  As a reminder, the event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, December 9,  in “Dunmore Corners”. This event promises to be a magical evening filled with holiday joy and community spirit, and we believe that your involvement can make it even more memorable for the people (and, most importantly, the children) of Dunmore.

To make “Christmas in The Corners” another resounding success, we are seeking YOUR SUPPORT! Your generosity can help us cover the costs associated with decorations, entertainment, lighting, security, and free giveaways for the children of the Borough. The goal of our fundraising effort is to ensure that everything at this event is provided FOR FREE for the children of Dunmore.

We want to bring a little Holiday magic to the Borough, but we need your help!

If you would like to donate, checks can be made payable to “Dunmore Business Association” and mailed to 201 South Blakely Street, #102, Dunmore, PA 18512. After last year’s incredibly successful “Christmas in the Corners” event, it is my pleasure to announce we are bringing the event back for a second year!

This year, the event will be held on Saturday, Dec. 9th starting at 2 p.m. in Dunmore Corners.

More info will follow in the coming weeks but expect this year to be even bigger and better! I hope to see you all there!

Mayor’s Message: January 2023

By Max Conway
Mayor of Dunmore

It was a very busy holiday season in the Borough!

Early in December, we kicked off the Christmas season with our first ever “Christmas in the Corners” event and tree-lighting ceremony. To say it was a success would be an understatement. Over 1,000 people showed up at Fidelity Bank’s parking lot to ring in Christmas.

We had tents filled with gifts and treats for the kids, St. Mary’s Choir, Dunmore School Marching Band, bicycle raffles, a hot chocolate truck, stilt walkers, jugglers, and so much more. The event would not have been such a success without the support of so many local business owners and volunteers. It is important to remember that it’s not companies like Walmart and Target that make events like this happen–its businesses right here in Dunmore. Make sure you go out shop local!

The event was topped off with four-year-old David Rivera flipping the switch to light the tree (pictured here). David has been battling cancer these last few months and to see his face when the tree lit up, to me, is what the Christmas season is all about. I hope to see everyone there next year as we make it even bigger and better!

I also want to wish everyone a very happy New Year. I look forward to seeing what 2023 brings to this wonderful Borough! If you would like to keep up to date on other announcements and information, please follow me on Facebook at Mayor Max Conway!
