John Donato Moffitt, 54, Dunmore died Saturday at home.

Born in Scranton, he was the son of John and Helen Mumfreda Moffit, Dunmore.

John was a graduate of Dunmore High School, class of 1984 and was a member of S.S. Anthony and Rocco Parish, Dunmore. He had been employed at the Honky Tonk Restaurant, Dunmore and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Also surviving is a sister, Mary Boyko and husband, Stephen, Scranton a brother Joseph and wife Jennifer, Dunmore. Four nieces and a nephew, Bridget and Anna Fox, Hailey and Sophia Moffitt and Joey Moffitt.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday at 10:30 A.M. in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Smith Street, Dunmore. Interment will follow in St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow.

Family and friends may call Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 East Drinker St., Dunmore. Please observe all pandemic protocols at both the visitation and funeral mass.

Remembering Carmella E. Sabatini

Carmella E. Sabatini, 85, of Dunmore, passed away after a battle with Dementia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard A. “Dick” Sabatini in 2012.

 A lifelong resident of Dunmore, daughter of the late Santo and Maria Graci Quatra, she was a graduate of Dunmore High School and was a member of SS. Anthony and Rocco Parish. 

Carmella enjoyed her time taking bus trips to the Casinos, weekend card games, visiting different family members for lunch, telling stories about the “olden days”, baking, doing puzzles, listening to 1950s Doo Wop music, shopping, watching Tennis and Dancing with The Stars, attending Saturday mass and always being on the go.

 For over 30 years she kept active as a “Mall Walker” at the Viewmont Mall, making many special friendships and meeting up every morning for coffee and conversation. During her illness, she looked forward to going to Telespond Adult DayCare in Scranton to meet new friends and participate in all of their wonderful activities. Above all, her favorite thing to do was visit and spend time with her grandchildren.

Mom, we are comforted knowing your mind is at peace, you are no longer suffering and are celebrating with Dad and your siblings in Heaven.

 Surviving is a daughter, Gina Gallucci, and husband, Carl, Voorhees, NJ.

Grandchildren Giuliana, Summer, Dominic and Ava Gallucci, all of Voorhees, NJ.

A Sister-in-Law, Virginia Duboski of Clarks Summit, a Brother-in-Law, Walter Sack of Dunmore and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Santo Quatra and Angelo John Quatra, and sisters, Josephine Palermo, Angela Chairo Zaffino, Susan Dante, and Rita Sack. They are now all together, having Sunday Dinner, followed by a card game. Salute! 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Church, Smith St., Dunmore. Interment to follow at Italian- American Cemetery.  Those attending are kindly and respectfully asked to socially distance without making direct contact with the family and are required to wear a mask.

Remembering Bernetta Nigro

Bernetta M. Nigro, 98, Dunmore, died Tuesday at Green Ridge Care Center, Scranton.  She was the wife of Nicholas P. Nigro who died in 2000.

Born in Dunmore, daughter of the late Ralph and Isabel Sabia Young, she was a graduate of Dunmore High School Class of 1941.  Prior to her retirement, she was employed by Supermarket Services. 

A favorite pastime of hers was taking trips to the casino, and she absolutely loved going to concerts of Irish singer Daniel O’Donnell, with whom she developed a nice friendship.

Surviving is her cherished son, Nick and wife Diane; 2 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in St. Eulalia’s Church, Moscow.  Interment, Fairview Memorial Park.
