SS. Anthony & Rocco Italian Festival
SS. Anthony & Rocco Parish Italian Festival will be held August 12, 13 and 14, at St. Rocco’s Church Grounds, 122 Kurtz St., Dunmore, featuring food, games and live entertainment. The Festival opens Friday and Saturday at 5 p.m. and on Sunday following the noon Mass and Procession.
Live Entertainment includes Friday: DHS Marching Units & Cheerleaders and Picture Perfect; Saturday: Popstar Drive; Sunday: Feast Day Mass & Procession at noon followed by Vinsko Entertainment, Scranton Prep Cheerleaders, The Luongo Brothers Band, and fireworks at 9 p.m.
Car Show & Chicken BBQ
The Saint Ann Basilica Parish will host its 8th annual Car Show and Chicken BBQ on the grounds of the Basilica in West Scranton on Sunday, Aug. 7. Gates open at 8 a.m. and the show runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., rain or shine. All vehicles are welcome with pre-registration at $10 and $15 on the day of the show. Chicken BBQ is pre-order only at $12 each from noon to 4 p.m. For the early birds, breakfast sandwiches will be available for purchase. Lebanese Food Fest
The 21st annual Lebanese-American Food Fest will be held on Friday and Saturday Aug 12 and 13, from 4 to 9 p.m. and Sunday, Aug 14, from 1 to 7 p.m. at St. Joseph Melkite Greek-Catholic Church, 130 N. St. Frances Cabrini Ave., West Scranton.
There will be take-out, curbside, or limited seating, with Lebanese food and pastries, local picnic food favorites, variety baskets, and Holy Day services daily. Paws in the Park
Griffin Pond Animal Shelter will host Paws in the Park on Sunday, Aug. 7, from noon to 3:30 p.m. at McDade Park, pavilion 2, Scranton.
This family and pet-friendly event will include a variety of vendors, activities, food, and Griffin Pond shelter pets and yours, too! Admission is $10 per person (kids under 12 and pets FREE) and provides guests with access to 40 vendors, music by TopShelf Entertainment, and an assortment of food trucks. There also will be Griffin Pond apparel on sale.

Civil War Roundtable
The Scranton Area Civil War Roundtable will present Kenneth Serfass, (USMC ret.) as Lt. Gen. Ulysses S. Grant on Monday, Aug. 8, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Henkelman Room, Second Floor, Albright Memorial Library. The event is open to the public and at will donations will be accepted.
Gunnery Sgt Kenneth J. Serfass, a native of Bethlehem, PA, served as a US Marine beginning in 1984. His last duty station was with the First Marine Division Band during Operation Iraqi Freedom. He retired in July, 2004, to become a music teacher. Ken is a first-person impressionist with 47 years studying his childhood hero, US Grant. As a full-time professional living historian portraying Ulysses S. Grant, he presents between 11 and as many as 23 appearances each month all year long.
Scranton Central High Reunion
Scranton Central High School Class of 1970 will hold its 50th class reunion on Saturday, Aug. 13, from 6 to 11 p.m. at Elmhurst Country club, Moscow, featuring buffet, cash bar and DJ entertainment. Church Fall Festival
Our Lady of the Abingtons under Pastor, Rev. Arbogaste Satoun, will hold its annual Fall Festival on Saturday, Sept.10 and Sunday, Sept.11, on the church grounds at 207 Seminary Road, Dalton..
The festival is Saturday from 5 to 10 p.m. featuring Pork BBQ and DJ Eric Petersen; and Sunday from noon – 6 p.m. featuring a Chicken BBQ, with live music by The Quietmen. There is free parking and no admission.

The North Pocono Public Library (NPPL) has announced Nick Donato as the Guest of Honor for its second annual Golf Tournament on Monday, August, at Elmhurst Country Club, Moscow.Cochairmen, Jim Coles and Edward Steinmetz invited Mr. Donato to participate to honor his legacy in the North Pocono community. Coles & Steinmetz lead an 18-person committee for the tournament which has a noon shotgun start

Actors Circle Variety Show
Actors Circle will present its second annual Variety Show at McDade Park on Sunday, Aug. 28 at 5 p.m. The show features emcees Cathy Rist Strauch and David Alejandro Smith, and will include singers, comedians, instrumentalists, and actors.
