Modern art exhibit
Marywood University ‘s Mahady Gallery and the Maslow Study Gallery for Contemporary Art will kick off a special art exhibit, “Highlights from the Maslow Collection,” from Friday, November 8 through Friday, January 24.
The galleries will feature the largest and most comprehensive collection of Contemporary art in Northeastern Pennsylvania, with over 700 works by more than 150 artists. Collected by Marilyn and Richard Maslow and originally housed at InterMetro Industries, it is now on long-term loan to Marywood University. The largest part of the Maslow Collection is devoted to paintings by newly established or emerging artists working or exhibiting in New York during the late 1970s through the early 1990s. The Collection also includes major prints and important photographs spanning the 1930s to the 1990s.
Featured artists include Berenice Abbott, Bernd and Hilla Becher, Francesco Clemente, Chuck Close, Jim Dine, Jack Goldstein, Valerie Jaudon, Jasper Johns, Ellsworth Kelly, Roy Lichtenstein, Robert Motherwell, Robert Rauschenberg, Susan Rothenberg, Ed Ruscha, Julian Schnabel, Frank Stella, Wayne Thiebaud, Andy Warhol, Thornton Willis, and others.
ScrantonShakes events
Audiences are used to see Scranton Shakespeare in the summer, but ScrantonShakes has a lot more going on year-round at the ShakesSpace at the Marketplace at Steamtown. There is something for everyone, including the third year of Holiday Panto featuring this year’s presentation of “Cinderella” for children and adults alike. It is a perfect festive night out for the whole family on December 6-9 and 12-14.

Beatles vs. Stones
“Beatles vs. Stones – A Musical Showdown” comes to The F.M. Kirby Center in Wilkes-Barre on Wednesday, April 30, at 7:30 p.m. Ticket prices are: $39, $49, $59, and $69 plus fees. These two legendary bands will engage in an on-stage, throw down – a musical ‘showdown’ if you will courtesy of tribute bands Abbey Road and Satisfaction – The International Rolling Stones Show. During the two-hour show, the bands perform two sets each, trading places in quick set changes and ending the night with an all-out encore involving both bands. The show is appropriate for all ages.

The F.M. Kirby Center for the Performing Arts and Briggs Farm Blues Festival present “The Winter Blues” with Eddie 9V with special guest Bret Alexander as part of the Chandelier Concert Series on Saturday, February 22, at 8 p.m. Ticket prices are $20 in advance and $25 day of show. Comedian Jo Koyh
Comedian Jo Koy just announced his “Jo Koy: Just Being Koy Tour” will be at the F.M. Kirby Center for the Performing Arts on Sunday. February 23, at 7:30 p.m. Ticket prices are: $49.50, $59.50 and $69.50 plus fees. *Minimum age is 12. There is an 8 ticket limit. A $219 VIP ticket is available, plus fees—online only.

Koy starred in the 2022 Universal Picture film Easter Sunday, set around a family gathering to celebrate Easter Sunday, the comedy is based on Jo Koy’s life experiences and stand-up comedy. In 2023, Koy appeared in Disney’s Haunted Mansion and voiced characters in Netflix’s animated films, Monkey King and Leo. In 2024, he was most recently heard voicing the character Monkey King in the Paramount+ film, The Tiger’s Apprentice.
