“Night of Storytelling” on April 26th

African Sisters Education Collaborative (ASEC) is hosting the inaugural fundraising event, Night of Storytelling, on Wednesday, April 26,  in Marywood University’s Fireplace Lounge in Nazareth Hall from 6:30-8 pm. The event is free and open to the public.

Those who attend the event will be inspired and invigorated by the stories of African Catholic sisters, who will share their experiences in five-minute personal narratives, presented by sisters from Cameroon, Ghana, Kenya, and Zambia. The four featured storytellers will recount their unique experiences of being African Catholic sisters.

Throughout this evening of captivating stories, guests will be enlightened by the fruitful results of the organization’s work providing access to education for women religious in Africa and the spectacular advancements in the education, health, economic, social, environmental, and spiritual services the sisters provide to their communities.

Funds will be raised through the event’s 50/50 chance raffle, tickets can be purchased through asec-sldi.org, by visiting ASEC offices in Emmanuel Hall at Marywood University, by calling (570) 340-6089, or emailing asecadmin@asec-sldi.org. Raffle tickets can be purchased by students for $1 each, and community members for $5. Attendance at the event is not required to win.

Purchases can be made digitally until Monday, April 17, and last minute tickets with cash or check at the door. All proceeds will go directly to support ASEC’s mission and will be generously matched 1.5x by the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, greatly amplifying the impact of every dollar raised.

Since 1999, African Sisters Education Collaborative has facilitated access to education for over 6,500 women religious in Africa. Through the robust programs ASEC provides, these Catholic sisters have enhanced and expanded the services they provide in the 10 Sub-Saharan African countries where they serve.
