Having been elected three times to serve the four year term, Carol Scrimalli has served 12 consecutive years as a member of Dunmore Borough Council, and is now seeking reelection.
For the past 12 years, Carol has believed that improving the finances of Dunmore is the most important issue, having formerly served on Dunmore Borough’s finance committee. Great strides in this area have led to the purchase of a new fire truck, major renovation of the firehouse, new police cars, new garbage trucks and plow trucks, all while not raising taxes.
Carol is proud to currently serve as Liaison to Dunmore’s DPW, one of the finest Department of Public Works in the area.
Very active in community affairs, Carol is a member of the Lackawanna County Democratic Committee, where she is Co-Vice President of the 112 th District. She is a member of Lackawanna County Act 32 Tax Collection Committee, and is a member of Scranton Abington Planning Association. She was also a member of the Lackawanna County Federation of Women.
She has served as Director of UNICO National Keystone Chapter Board and has chaired and co-chaired their annual Pig Roast for three years, raising money for non-profit organizations, including United Cerebral Palsy, Women’s Resource Center and Serving Seniors.
Carol is Council Liaison to Sherwood Park, a site which she served as its first woman president. She has been Council’s Liaison to Dunmore’s Community Center that houses the Senior Center, a three-court basketball auditorium, and Head Start early child care. She was chair of Dunmore’s 150th Celebration, which raised money for Christmas decorations in Dunmore. She has also served on Dunmore’s Recreation Board.
Carol and her husband Carmen have been married for 42 years and have three children and five grandchildren. She has a Bachelor of Science Degree from Marywood University, where she also studied for her Masters. She was employed with Dun & Bradstreet for 14 years, where she earned multiple presidential and leadership awards. She taught religious instruction for 11 years at Immaculate Conception Church in Scranton.
