Jean S. Murrin, formerly of Dunmore, died Thursday night in Hospice of the Sacred Heart Inpatient Unit.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Murrin, in 1997.

Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Thomas C. and Mary Schuller Seymour, she was a graduate of Dunmore High School, Class of 1942, and had been a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, Dunmore.  Prior to her retirement, she had worked for Post Trucking Company for 41 years.  

Surviving are her nieces and nephews, Regina Wisneski and husband Stan, William Murrin and wife Joanne, Frank Murrin, Thomas Murrin, Jr., Michael Murrin and wife Diane, Joseph Murrin and wife Lisa, James Murrin, Patricia Mock and husband Tom, Mary Rooney, Elaine Rooney, william Rooney and wife Charlyne, and Kathleen Cacares and husband Mauricio; her goddaughter, Ellizabeth Jackson; great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.

She was also preceded in death by her twin sister, June, who died in infancy.

Jean’s family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at the Gardens of Green Ridge, Dr. Martin Hyzinski and his staff, as well as those with Hospice of the Sacred Heart, for all of the kindness and compassion shown to their aunt.

A funeral service will be privately held with interment in Dunmore Cemetery.

Remembering Michael Fenick

Michael Fenick of Dunmore passed away on Sunday, May 10th at Hospice of the Sacred Heart in Dunmore. An initial survivor of bladder cancer, he lost his fight with a rare form of kidney cancer after a long and courageous battle.

Born on October 23, 1956 in Scranton, he was the son of the late John and Ann Stanko Fenick. He was the husband of Michele DelVecchio Fenick. The couple recently celebrated their 19th wedding Anniversary.

A graduate of West Scranton high school class of 1974. He was a former member of St. Gerges Orthodox Church, Taylor. He was employed at Cascades Tissue Group, Ransom for 30 years.

He is survived by his children; a son Michael Fenick and wife Pamela, Clarks Summit. A daughter Christel Fenick and Companion David Fyock Jr, Exeter. His grandchildren: Michael Ray Fenick and Mila Fenick of Clarks Summit. His stepchildren, Elissa Concini and Husband Cody and stepgrandchildren Dominic and Victoria Concini all of Montandon, PA. and Jeffrey Cook and Fiance Alyssa Forlenza of Dunmore. His Brother John Fenick and Sister Cathy Fenick of Scranton.

Mike and Michele enjoyed many happy years together. They especially loved their trips to Italy, Ireland, London, and Paris with their many good friends. While summer vacations were spent in Wildwood, New Jersey accompanied by all their children and grandchildren.

Mike cherished the times he spent with his many good friends and family. There was never a nice Sunday where you couldn’t find him on a golf course. He was an avid lover of the New York Yankees and Penn State Football and enjoyed attending games with his family. He had a heart of gold and had a way of making everyone around him feel special. To know him was to love him. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. He will be forever remembered as the heart and soul of his family.

Mike’s family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Dr. James Sheerer for his kindness and compassionate care all through his illness. They family also extends their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Chen and Dr. Plimack of Fox Chase Cancer Center, Philadelphia for the excellent care they provided. Also, a special thank you to the staff of Moses Taylor Hospital, Scranton and the nurses of Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore.

Hospice of the Sacred Heart Names New Medical Director

KilduffPatrick C. Kilduff, DO, MPT, has been named Medical Director for Hospice of the Sacred Heart. Dr. Kilduff has been a hospice physician at Hospice of the Sacred Heart since 2008 and will assume the role of Medical Director on February 10, 2020.  

“We’re thrilled that Dr. Kilduff, who has a long and commendable history with Hospice of the Sacred Heart, will be taking on the role of Medical Director. His patient-centered and mission-focused approach will serve our patients, families and staff very well,” said Diane Baldi, CEO, Hospice of the Sacred Heart.  

Dr. Kilduff has been a private practice physician at InterMountain Medical Group, Shavertown, since 2007. During his time at InterMountain, he served as a board member, member of the Medical Executive Committee WVHCS, Chairman of the Department of Medicine WVHCS, and Chief of Internal Medicine.

From 2007 to 2009, he served as a Physician Consultant dealing with physician level appeals against Medicare recovery audit contractors, applying Medicare local coverage determinations as a patient advocate.  He was a physical therapist at Wyoming Valley Health Care System, Wilkes-Barre. Dr. Kilduff was an internal medicine resident at Mercy Suburban Hospital, Norristown, Pennsylvania. 

Dr. Kilduff received a Bachelor of Science degree in biology with a minor in biochemistry from East Stroudsburg University, a Master of Physical Therapy from Hahnemann University, Philadelphia, and a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, Bala Cynwyd. 

He is a current member of the American Osteopathic Association and the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association. He is a Fellow of the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine and earned a Certificate of Added Qualification in Hospice and Palliative Care Medicine through the American Board of Osteopathic Internal Medicine. 

Dr. Kilduff is very proud of being voted Times Leader Readers’ Choice Award for Best Family Doctor 2016 through 2019, Citizens’ Voice Readers’ Choice Award for Best Family Doctor 2017 through 2019 and Dallas Post Best of the Back Mountain Best Family Doctor 2010 through 2019.
