Bucks Breakfast Banquet set for February 11th at DHS

Friends of the Bucks will host a football breakfast banquet honoring the 2023 Bucks on February 11 at 10 a.m. in the Dunmore High School Cafeteria, catered by The Fireside Martini Grill. An alumni photo will be taken at the upcoming event.

Last year’s banquet photo, shown above, was the final time the late Coach Jack Henzes gathered with alumni. Tickets are $35 per person. Call 570-430-5312 or email friendofthebucks@aol.com for additional information.

Coming Soon: New Statue to Honor Coach Jack Henzes

Among 25 projects focusing on social service, youth, public safety, veterans, and outdoor improvements which were approved for funding by the Lackawanna County Commissioners through their Community Re-Invest Program is one by the Friends of the Bucks.

henzesThe money will help erect a tribute statue to retired football coach Jack Henzes at Dunmore High School. The CRP Program will contribute $5,000 to the total project cost of $40,000.

The Community Re-Invest Program  public-private partnership investment for 2019 is $2,475,789.                    

The program was established in July of 2013.  It represents the “last mile” funding to help bring the initiatives to fruition.  The overall public-private investment since its inception is $8,169,139.                  

Other projects that were approved during this round of funding include: Ronald McDonald House, Bhutanese Cultural Foundation, E.B. Jermyn Lodge #2, Scranton; Tripp Park Miss-E League; Weston Park Teener League, Mayfield Borough municipal building renovations and emergency services center roof repair; Shopa-Davey VFW Post 6082, Peckville; Veterans Home Association, Jefferson Township; Friendship House, Women’s Resource Center; Archbald Borough for replacement of playground play structure.

Also, Scott Baseball Association; Blakely Borough for radio equipment, planters and security cameras; Waverly Community Center; United Community Outreach Food Pantry, Peckville; One Hot Meal, Scranton; Whitmore Hose Company, Mayfield; Marine Corps League, Lackawanna Historical Society, Lackawanna River Conservation Association; Throop Hose Company #1, and St. Ubaldo Society.
