Columbus Day Association Celebrates 110th Anniversary

The Columbus Day Association of Lackawanna County was founded in 1909 with the sole purpose of honoring Christopher Columbus as the discoverer of the “New World.” The association conducts four general meetings each year. The 110th anniversary dinner will be conducted at Fiorelli’s Catering in Peckville on Sunday, Oct. 13.

This year’s “Men of the Year” are Atty. Daniel Penetar and Dr. Martin Penetar. Membership is open to men with Italian ethnicity and sound moral character. Any such man interested in joining should contact Joe Fazio at 570-241-1691.

UNICO Members Attend Columbus Day Association Dinner

Dunmore’s Keystone UNICO was represented at the Columbus Day Association Dinner honoring Fidelity Bank’s President and CEO Daniel Santaniello as their Man of the Year.

At the Columbus Day Dinner several baskets were chanced off as a fundraiser exclusively for Saint Francis Kitchen. All baskets were donated by the directors of the Columbus Day Association.

Fidelity Bank President Honored as “Man of the Year”

Man of the Year

Daniel J. Santaniello, third from right, President & CEO of Fidelity Bank, was recently honored as the 2018 Columbus Day Association’s “Man of the Year.”

Actively involved in the community on the state and local levels, he volunteers with involved in several civic, youth, business, cultural and education organizations.
