Mary Carnevale, a resident of Allied Terrace Personal Care Facility celebrated her 100th birthday amid Valentine’s Day celebrations. Mary was joined by family members and fellow residents for lunch and cake. Mary was born on Feb. 14, 1917 in San Cataldo, Sicily. She came to the United States when she was 5 years old and was a resident of Dunmore until she came to Allied Terrace in March, 2016.
Mary worked as an operator at the Grove Silk Mill in Dunmore for 20 years. She was known for her hospitality; visitors were welcome into her home, treated like family, and never went home hungry.
Married to Michael Carnevale for 66 years before he passed away in 2007, Mary is mother to 4 children: Mary Louise Rzeszewski, Frank Lombardo, Mary Ann Cianci and Michael Carnevale. She has 7 grandchildren (Mark, David, Frank, Christopher, Gary, Lauren and Michael) and 9 great grandchildren (Karissa, Tyler, Frank Jr., Dante, Ashley, Lauren, Felicia, Jessica and Finley Rose.)
At 100 years old, Mary will be the oldest resident of Allied Terrace. Her sister, Catherine Maus, also lives at Allied Terrace where they receive daily visits from family members.
