Fifth grade students at DEC become published authors!

After finishing a unit on figurative language in Mrs. Jamie Davis’s reading class at Dunmore Elementary Center, fifth graders put their new knowledge to work and created class books that were sent out and published.

Each classroom book was titled, I am a Metaphor, and each student’s poem was to be titled with a metaphor that described themselves. Students were given criteria that they needed to follow, which included illustrating their poem.

The students enjoyed working on this assignment and were even more excited to learn that they were going to become published authors!
