Marywood offers transfer option for students at closing Clarks Summit Univ.

Marywood University is stepping forward as a viable transfer option for students of Clarks Summit University (CSU), which recently announced its decision to close. As a local institution committed to educational access for students of all backgrounds, Marywood University recognizes and affirms a supportive learning environment, a faith-centered student experience, a welcoming community, and empowering all students to achieve their full potential.

Clarks Summit University students interested in transferring to Marywood University will find:

Similar Academic Opportunities—and More: In addition to having many academic programs similar to those at CSU, Marywood also offers a wide array of new academic programs and career opportunities for students to consider. Even if Marywood does not explicitly have an exact CSU program, the university’s extensive degree offerings provide wonderful opportunities for prospective students to explore.

Easy Credit Transfer: Marywood University has mapped out course equivalencies so that credits earned at Clarks Summit University will either match existing Marywood courses or provide elective credits.

Out-of-pocket Tuition Cost Match: Marywood University is offering a unique opportunity to match CSU students’ out-of-pocket tuition costs. To avail themselves of this offer, students will need to complete and submit a valid Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) with no substantial changes in their family’s financial circumstances. Any additional steps required to secure state and federal aid and maintain a similar full-time, part-time, or resident status, like they had at CSU, would also need to be fulfilled.

Housing Options: Marywood has several housing options available, including a limited number of dedicated spaces within the residence halls to allow CSU students to live in close community, while also providing ample opportunities to integrate into the Marywood University student community. All housing options are subject to availability, but each individual will be provided with support and flexibility to accommodate their needs.

Athletics Opportunities: CSU student-athletes are urged to reach out to Marywood coaches regarding their interest in playing for a Marywood varsity athletic team. While there is no guarantee of placement on a team, Marywood can guarantee an opportunity for a seamless academic transition.

“The academic programs, faith and service offerings, student support services, student life opportunities, and natural beauty of Marywood’s campus are a strong match for the collegiate experience that Clarks Summit University students have come to know and love,” said Lisa Lori, J.D., Marywood President. “We feel Marywood University is a great fit for them, and we are fully committed to supporting their needs and goals by making their transition to Marywood as seamless as possible.”
