SCC St. Patrick’s party

The Scranton Cultural Center at the Masonic Temple will host its annual St. Patrick’s Parade Day Party on Saturday, March 9, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free and live entertainment will be provided by Across the Pond. In addition, several parade performers will continue their acts at the SCC for all party-goers to enjoy, including bagpipers, step dancers and more!

A cash bar and light fare will be available for purchase. The 2024 St. Patrick’s Parade Day Party is sponsored by The Society of Irish Women, The Friendly Sons of St. Patrick – Lackawanna County. Comfort Suites Scranton and LI Verrastro, and is supported by Lackawanna County and the PA Council on the Arts.

Catholic Choral concert

 In a 75 year tradition of inspiring prayer and meditation through music, the Catholic Choral Society will present its annual Lenten concert at St. Martin of Tours Church, 8175 State Route 492, Jackson, PA, 18825,on Sunday, March 10 at 4 p.m. Pastor of the church is Rev. John C Ruth.

The concerts are open to the public free of charge. There will be a goodwill offering.   

Brenda Grunza and Lois Ostrowski are co-presidents of the Catholic Choral Society. Ann Manganiello is music director of this group while Linda Houck is accompanist.  Church breakfast

The Women’s Society of St. Joseph Melkite Catholic Church, N.St. Frances Cabrini Avenue, West Scranton, is sponsoring its annual St. Joseph Day Breakfast, Sunday, March 17 from 9  a.m. to 1 p.m. The abundant eat-in or take-out meal includes eggs, scratch pancakes, home fries, olives, honey-baked ham, breads, juice and coffee. Adults tickets are $12 and children ages 6-10 are $6. Take-Out is $10/$6 with no beverages. Fragrant St. Joseph Bread will be available in two loaf packages for $5 until sold out. Classic Rock Show

The Scranton Cultural Center at the Masonic Temple announces The Classic Rock Show – World Tour 2024, kicking off in Scranton on March 21 at 7:30 p.m.. This production by CMP Entertainment features all the hits from Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Queen, The Rolling Stones, The Eagles, AC/DC. The Beatles, Dire Straits, Meat Loaf, ZZ Top, Eric Clapton, Aerosmith, Lynyrd Skynyrd. The Who, Boston, Toto, Van Halen, Fleetwood Mac and more.

Tickets start at $44.30. A VIP Sound Check Experience Pre-Show Package is available for an additional fee.

Architecture Day

Marywood University will host a School of Architecture Day for prospective students on Tuesday, April 2, at the Center for Architectural Studies, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The deadline to register for this free event is Friday, March 29.

Prospective students will be able to speak with faculty, tour the facilities, hear from student groups and student council, experience the studio culture in architecture and interior architecture classes, and tour the Center for the Living City’s Living Lab at Marywood. A complimentary lunch is included.

Free prom dresses

Salon Joy will host its sixth annual free prom dress drive this year at the Gouldsboro Train Station on April 26-28 from11 a.m. to 6 p.m.. Gently-used and new prom dresses as well as shoes, jewelry and accessories  are being collected at both locations of Salon Joy at 731 S. Main St., Old Forge, and 243 State Road 436, Gouldsboro. 

Local seamstresses such Classique Clothes Boutique & more, join in to help students across NEPA with free gowns, men’s attire and more for all occasions. We also collect bridal and bridesmaid dresses, and men’s formal clothes.

Primus concert

For the first time in nearly 12 years, rock icons Primus will perform at the F.M. Kirby Center for the Performing Arts on Monday, May 6, with the show beginning  at 8 p.m. and doors opening at 7.
