Carly Borchardt of Dunmore, recently opened The Hive Salon on Burke, located in the newly remodeled lower level of her home at 542 Burke St. in Dunmore. The beauty salon officially opened its doors last month.

Carly, who was born and raised in Dunmore, attended Dunmore Elementary, Dunmore High School, and upon graduation in 1997, began her secondary education at Kutztown University. She transferred to Florida Atlantic University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology in 2003. 

Since she was a little girl, she loved playing with makeup and hair, and although her degree served her well for many years, she couldn’t ignore the tug of getting involved in the beauty industry.  

In 2008, Carly attended The Salon Professional Academy by Redken in South Florida. Fresh out of that program, she cut her teeth at Wild Hare Salon in Boca Raton, Fl, where she worked for two years before moving back to Dunmore.  

For the last decade, Carly has worked for and alongside Carmella Griguts at Lox Unlimited in Dunmore. Through the years, she has stayed up to date on current trends, styles, and methods by taking continuing education in the hair field, and is now the owner of her own salon. 

Carly was adamant that her business remain in the town that built her.
