Choral competition
Keystone Chapter UNICO will host a high school choral competition on Sunday, Feb 26, at 2 p.m . at Peoples Security Bank Theater at Lackawanna College. Cost is $10 for adults; $5 for students, with five years and under free. For tickets, call Michele at 570-343-7009 or Toni at 570-344-2388.
PSU recruiting night
The Greater Scranton Chapter of The Penn State Alumni Association will hold its annual “Recruiting Night” on Friday, Feb. 3, at Arcaro & Genell’s, Old Forge. Guest presenter will be Donnie Collins, columnist and Penn State beat reporter for the Times-Tribune. Doors open at 6:00pm. There are no membership requirements. Suggested donation is $5 per person and will include pizza, soft drinks and salad. The presentation will begin at 7 p,m. when Collins will present a video presentation of the Penn State incoming football recruiting class of 2022. The night will also include a discussion of the football program and a Q&A session.
Family fundraiser
“Baskets for Marie’s Family” fundraiser will take place on Sunday, Feb. 26, at American Legion Post #570, 400 2nd Street (Lincoln St) Blakely, starting at 10 a.m. and throughout the day to help the family of Marie Armenti, owner of Armenti’s Pizzeria, Olyphant, who passed away at age 41 on Dec. 31 after battling cancer. Her husband Giancarlo (John), also owner of the pizzeria, has many medical bills and is left to care for their boys, age 3.
Open to the public, all help is appreciated.
Donations of raffle baskets and as well as monetary donations are greatly needed for the Armenti’s. Contact Tracey at 570-335-3639 for additional information. Raffle baskets can be dropped off ASAP and please label that they are for the Armenti Family.
Psyansky classes
SS Cyril and Methodius Ukrainian Catholic Church, Olyphant will offer Ukrainian Pysanky classes on Sundays, March 12 and 26, at noon and at 3 p.m. in the Parish Hall with plenty of free parking. The two-hour beginner class will teach the basics to create a traditional Ukrainian pysanky egg. The cost of each class is $25 for each person. Supplies are included.

Killer Queen concert
Magic City Productions will present Killer Queen on Wednesday, March 29, at 7:30 p.m. at the Scranton Cultural Center at the Masonic Temple. The tribute to Queen which features Patrick Myers as Freddie Mercury will take place in the SCC’s Harry & Jeanette Weinberg Theatre.

Tom Papa Comedy Tour
The Scranton Cultural Center at the Masonic Temple will present the Tom Papa 2023 Comedy Tour on March 10 at 7:30 p.m. in its Harry & Jeanette Weinberg Theatre. With more than 20 years as a stand-up comedian, Papa is one of the top comedic voices in the country finding success in film, TV, radio and podcasts as well as on the live stage. He is a regular guest on “The Joe Rogan Experience” podcast and the late night TV shows.
Tickets range from $42.40 – $64.55 with a VIP package that includes access to a post-show meet and greet and
