Golf Tournament
The Lackawanna Blind Association will be hosting the annual William J. Jordon, M.D., Memorial Swing for Sight Golf Tournament on Monday, June 6, at Glen Oak Country Club, Clarks Summit. Dr. William J. Jordon is cochair along with Jerry Champi and Brian Mahlstedt from FNCB Bank. The proceeds benefit the Association’s programs. For reservations, call 570-342-7613, ext. 5.
Plant Sale Extravaganza
The Laurel Garden Club will host a Plant Sale Extravaganza on Saturday, June 18, at St. Mary’s Center, Mifflin Avenue, between 9 a.m. and noon. The event will include “priced to sell” and “grown to thrive,” including African violets, succulents and groundcover.
Fresh cut floral arrangement designed and donated by club members will be available for purchase. Master gardeners will be on hand to advise.
There will be Basket Raffles, Floral and “Greens” Vase Raffle, hand-painted rocks for meditation gardens and more.

Baseball Academy
Sandlot Baseball Academy fall tryouts will be held on Tuesday, June 7, and Thursday, June 9, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Schautz Stadium, Dunmore. All players ages 7 to 13 and new players from ages 13 and up are encouraged to tryout. Cost is $10. Contact CDD027@aol.com or 570-445-1155 with questions or reservations.
Transfer Tuesdays
Marywood University will hold its Transfer Tuesdays program for college students or former college students who are considering transferring to Marywood University. We welcome transfer students at all stages of their college careers.
Transfer Tuesdays opportunities will take place on the following Tuesdays during the late spring/summer: June 14, July 26, and August 9, 2022. Those interested can schedule an appointment every half hour beginning at 2 p.m.
Registered visitors can discuss financial aid and scholarship options, transfer credits, take a tour of campus, review credits for transfer eligibility, and complete an application for admission. Marywood University’s fall semester begins on Monday, August 22.

Catholic Women’s Conference
The 2022 “Refresh Your Faith” Catholic Women’s Conference, which is expected to bring together an estimated 800 women on the campus of Marywood University, will be held on Saturday, June 11. The theme of this year’s conference is “Full of Grace.”
The day will begin with opening remarks at 8 a.m. followed by Mass with the Most Reverend Joseph C. Bambera, Bishop of Scranton, at 8:30 a.m. Keynote speaker is Colleen Carroll Campbell, along with speaker Deb Hadley and singer Molly McManusl. Olyphant resident and radio personality Natalie Gubala-Magden will moderate the day .
Participants will enjoy a continental breakfast, lunch and shopping with vendors coming from as far as Israel. Cost to attend the conference is $50 for in-person. Student tickets are $20.
