The fourth annual Pittie Palooza Festival, Northeast Pennsylvania’s only dog-friendly wine fest, will be held on June 8 at Maiolatesi Wine Cellars featuring 15 animal rescues from around Northeast PA along with 50 vendors and multiple food trucks.
Proceeds from the day’s event are donated to the animal welfare groups and nonprofits in attendance.
Last year alone, Pittie Palooza Festival donated over $4000 to the escues in attendance. This event is rain or shine. No refunds. Must be 21+ to drink. Designated Driver tickets available. Children not recommended. Retractable leashes not allowed. For information, call 570-575-5426.
Vietnam Veteran Benefit
VFW Dunmore Post 3474 will host a Benefit for Vietnam veteran Joe Dodgson on Saturday, June 15, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tickets for adults are $10; chikdren 12 and under, $5, and includes pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage and beverage. There will be raffle baskets and a 50/50 drawing.
Holy Cross Basketball Camp

AARP Chapter 3731 North East Pennsylvania will meet on Monday, July 1, at 1:30 p.m. at Asbury United Methodist Church, 720 Delaware St., Scranton, with a theme “Wear Red White and Blue.” A free blood pressure screening will be held between noon and 1:30 p.m. Speaker will be former Mayor James Connors. The school supplies collection will continue.
YMCA’s 175th Anniversary
June 6 marks the 175th anniversary of the founding of the YMCA in London, England. To celebrate 175 years of serving communities, The Greater Scranton Family YMCA, and Ys around the world, are celebrating with parties and 175-minutes of volunteering!
At the Greater Scranton YMCA, coffee will be served throughout the day, with cake being served at noon. All Y members are welcome. Also on June 6, Greater Scranton YMCA staff will plant flowers and children in the Early Learning Center will plant vegetables.
Anthracite Opera Presents “Hodge Podge IV”
Anthracite Opera Company presents Hodge Podge IV on Sunday, June 9, at 3 p.m. The show features a musical variety program, from folk to classical to Broadway. Directed by Anthracite founder, Gary Richards, the musical performance will be presented at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Ash Street and Taylor Avenue, Scranton. Lake Winola United Methodist Church will host its 11th annual Music on the Lawn and Craft Fair / Yard Sale on Saturday, Aug. 24, from 1 to 10 p.m. Craft and yard sale vendors will be available throughout the afternoon along with four live Christian Musical Groups who will start at 2 p.m.
