Dunmore Summer Festival at Sherwood Park
The 6th annual Dunmore Summer Festival at Sherwood Park will soon be upon us. This year’s festivities will take place from 5 to 11 p.m. on August 16, 17 and 18.
There will be live entertainment each night and lots and lots of food. Selections will include everything from pizza fritta to pasta fagiole.
This year also marks the 60th anniversary of the Sherwood Youth Association.
S.S. Anthony and Rocco Italian Festival
Anthony & Rocco Parish Italian Festival will be held Aug. 10, 11, and 12, at St. Rocco’s Church Grounds in Dunmore, featuring food, games and live entertainment. The Festival opens Friday and Saturday at 5:30 p.m. and on Sunday following the noon mass and procession. Live entertainment will include:
Friday: DHS Marching Units & Cheerleaders and Picture Perfect
Saturday: Holy Cross High School Cheerleaders, Prima Elite Academy of Dance and Popstar Drive
Sunday: Feast Day Mass & Procession at Noon followed by The Luongo Brothers Band, Take Three, and fireworks at 9 p.m.
Music on the Lawn
Lake Winola United Methodist Church will host its 10th annual Music on the Lawn and Craft Fair/Yard Sale on Saturday, Aug. 25, from 1 to 10 p.m.
This event will have craft and yard sale vendors throughout the afternoon along with four live Christian musical groups starting at 2 p.m.
There will be a chicken BBQ and campfire in the evening, featuring a Christian video over the campfire while roasting marshmallows. To buy tickets for the Chicken BBQ or to be a vendor, call Mark at 570-351-7365.
A Flapjack Breakfast Fundraiser will be sponsored by Keystone Chapter UNICO, Dunmore, at Applebee’s at Viewmont Mall Dickson City, with proceeds benefiting St. Francis Commons for homeless veterans on Saturday, Sept. 8, from 8 to 10 a.m. at a cost of $7 for adults; $4 for children. 5Kate Run/Walk at Nay Aug
Sam Sebastionelli of Dunmore Drug Store hopes his recent donation will assist the Katie Foundation raise awareness and understanding of mental illness.
The donation will help fund the third annual Halloween-themed 5Kate Run/ Walk to be held on October 20, at 10 a.m. at Nay Aug Park in Scranton.
A wellness fair, safe trick or treating, food and entertainment will follow the race. Adults and children are encouraged to wear costumes. For more information or to make a donation go to email@example.com.
Come to a furniture sale at St. Cyril’s School gym, 133 River St., Olyphant, on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 3 and 4, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. A variety of furniture will be available.
Marywood Swimming Clinic
Marywood University’s Athletics department will hold a Competitive Swimming Skills Clinic on Saturday, Aug. 18, and Sunday, Aug. 19, in the Aquatics Center at the Center for Athletics and Wellness. The morning sessions, for ages 7-11, will run from 9 a.m. to noon; and the afternoon sessions, ages 12-18, will run from 1-4 p.m. The cost for a single day is $50, or $90 for both days, and includes a T-shirt and swim cap.
The Competitive Swimming Skills Clinic is geared toward swimmers with some competitive experience. Sessions on Saturday, Aug. 18, will focus on Freestyle and Backstroke skill development. On Sunday, Aug. 19, the focus will be on Butterfly and Breaststroke skill development. All sessions will include technique development, stroke drills, video analysis, and challenges/games.

Jazz Concert at Marywood
A festival performance by members of Camp Crescendo Jazz, a week-long musical experience at Marywood University for instrumental and vocal students in grades 7-12 will be presented on Aug. 4 at the Radisson Lackawanna Station.
