Artist Lillian Banick

Lillian Banick is shown with two featured paintings, Special Olympians and Adam Rippon. She enjoys taking inspiration from magazines and news stories.

Lillian Banick of Scranton has been named Dunmore Activity Hub Artist of the Month for July.

Banick joined the Dunmore Activity Hub two years ago, and says she gets many of her ideas while keeping current with the news.

“I often see photos or images in magazines that also inspire me to paint,” she explains.

Her two featured paintings are of Special Olympians and figure skater Adam Rippon.

“I am inspired by the courage and determination of Special Olympians,” she says. “I have also been following Adam Rippon since he was raised in Clarks Summit.”

Lillian points out that the art instructor, Jill Sweirse is very patient and helpful to members of the class.

“I enjoy meeting new people and like the social aspects of Dunmore Activity Hub. We have a good time and learn a lot from each other,” she notes.
