Camp Archbald has been offering sleep-away camping to girls for the past 98 years. This semi-rustic camp, located on the shores of the picturesque Lake Ely near Kingsley in Susquehanna County, is steeped in tradition with modern additions – a new dining hall, a water slide, and the immensely popular climbing wall and zip-line.
This summer the Girl Scout council, Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania, which owns Camp Archbald has decided not to offer resident camp here. The Supporters of Camp Archbald (SoCA), a group of Girl Scouts and camp alumnae, has stepped up to offer one week of resident camp this summer.
Our resident camp is running from July 15- 19 and is open to all girls ages 7 to 17. Costs range from $225 to $275 depending on the program; some financial aid is available and cookie money can be applied. Girls who attend will enjoy activities such as swimming, boating, hiking, campfires, archery, and arts & crafts.
Girls entering 4th grade and up can challenge themselves on the climbing wall and enjoy an exhilarating ride on the zip-line. Girls entering 6th grade and up also get to choose a day-trip off camp, either hiking at Watkins Glen State Park or boating down the Susquehanna River. The best parts about camp will still be for every girl: friendships, independence, new skills, and memories that last a lifetime.
