The Dunmore Activity Hub at the Dunmore Community Center, 1414 Monroe Ave., Dunmore, has finalized plans for two big Fall events.
Alison Boga, acting executive director,, said a Designer Purse Bingo event will be held Sunday, October 2, at the Dunmore Activity Hub. Doors will open at noon for the fundraising event. Bingo will begin at 1 p.m.
The cost to attend will be $20 for bingo cards, Boga said. Those who attend can purchases refreshments, chips, soda, water and pizza donated by the Honky Tonk, Dunmore.
The event will be held from noon to 5 p.m.
The other big Fall event, a Weekend of the Arts, will be held Friday and Saturday, October 14-15 at the Activity Hub at the Dunmore Community Center.
The event will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.
On Friday, there will be an oil painting class and Art show. Jill Swersie will run the oil painting demonstration. Mike Walton will hold a ballroom dancing session at 7 p.m. on Friday. Doug Smith and his band will perform all night.
The Art show will be held from 10 a.m. To 3 p.m. Saturday, October 15, There will be Art available both for show and purchase, Boga said.
There will also be a Tai Chi and Yoga demonstration by Rick Schmoyer Saturday, October 15. Kimberly Maslanka will have a Yoga and Essential Oils demonstration that day.
“This will be an informative, exciting all day event,” said Boga. The Weekend of Arts is free to the public, Boga added.
“I think it’s a great idea,” she said. “It all came about through the instructors involved. It’s a joint effort between all the instructors. Hopefully, it turns into an annual event.
“The a Designer Purse Bingo event was mostly board driven by our board of directors. We will do some large fundraisers throughout the year for the Center.
“A lot of people have a misconception about what we do. It’s not just about serving lunch to seniors. We run a lot of programs, have many activities and outings and events. There is a lot we do here for our seniors and the general public.
“We are really looking forward to these two big events. We think they will be a success.”
