Marywood University’s music, theatre, and dance department presents the Marywood Summer Festival Band in a concert of traditional American band repertoire on Sunday, July 19 at 7:00 p.m., in the Sette LaVerghetta Center for Performing Arts located on the university’s campus. The concert is free and open to the public.
Cody Messersmith, a junior music education student at Marywood, and Anthony Fortuna, an alumnus of the University, will be the featured soloists, playing the tuba and the bassoon respectively. The concert will also include the overtures from “The Poet and Peasant” by Franz Van Suppé and “The Barber of Seville” by Gioachino Rossini, as well as show tunes and marches from the American band literature of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
